PMTCT (Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission) / eMTCT (elimination of Mother to Child Transmission) focuses on Women Living with HIV (WLHIV) reached with PMTCT interventions. The program's main aim is to address the high prevalence of HIV among pregnant women and eliminate mother-to-child transmission.
An effective PMTCT programme requires mothers and their babies to receive antenatal services and HIV testing during pregnancy. Our focus areas include primary prevention of HIV infection among women of childbearing age, preventing unintended pregnancies among women living with HIV, and preventing HIV transmission from a woman living with HIV to her infant — following all due processes up to 24 months.
